Camps
Year 7 Camp – Omaui
Our Year 7 students start the year with much excitement; some risk taking, challenges and team building activities. The Omaui camps begin early in Term 1, with our first class usually heading away in the third week. It is fantastic to watch our new students rise to meet challenges and give their best, participating with enthusiasm during a variety of activities. From tramping, abseiling and adventure based learning to contributing during team duties, our students quickly pick up the culture of ‘The Hargest Way’. Our Year 7 camp at Omaui is a valuable experience and positive way of establishing a team culture within each class. We appreciate the support of many parents and whanau members.
Year 8 Camp – Deep Cove
Deep Cove camp in Doubtful Sound is an amazing adventure full of challenges and opportunities. Our Year 8 students spend four days and three nights in this beautiful part of New Zealand. We travel by bus to Manapouri, by boat across the lake to West Arm, then by bus again to get to Deep Cove. Students quickly discover how remote Deep Cove is due to the lack of cell phone reception! The main activities include tramping, boating, fishing and bonding with new classmates. This time is invaluable for the students as they develop experience and personal abilities in a new and exciting environment. This camp provides not only awesome experiences, but also a valuable time to establish connections and friendships with new year 8 classmates.
Year 9 Camp – Borland Lodge
Year 9 Camps begin at the beginning of November each year. Year 9 students will have the opportunity to go on an exciting three day (two nights) camp at Borland Lodge. During their time at Borland Lodge, students experience and challenge themselves in many activities including caving, tramping, abseiling, rock climbing, rafting and camping out under the stars.
