James Hargest College entered a great team for the Regional and National Schools Track Championships. Made up of riders from years 7/8 through to year 13 and with a mix of new and seasoned riders, the event was always going to produce some great results, and the riders definitely didn’t disappoint.
There was a range of achievements for individuals in the omnium at Regional and National levels through to the teams events for years 7/8, U16 and U20s Girls and Boys.
Zach Hibbs had some good results on the track. He won the 2000m scratch race and came 3rd overall for Nationals and 1st in South Island.
Fino Youngdaeng came 3rd in the South Island in the Standing 250m Sprint as well as Emily Forsyth placing 2nd in the South island and Nationally for the U17 girls Omnium.
The U20s Boys (Finn Edwards, Jonathan Blyth, George Manson) took out the South Island and National title in the Team Sprint as well as the U20 Girls (Zadie Scott, Emily Forsyth, Sarah Hartstonge) sprint team came 1st in the South Island and 2nd Nationally.
The end result for all this fantastic hard work resulted in James Hargest gaining enough points Nationally to take out Silver against all the schools that competed. Awesome work team!
