Our House Futsal competition started with the girls competition in Week 3. The gallery was opened for students to watch the games and they poured in to watch the action unfold below. After a great round robin competition, the Thomson Girls took out the Futsal win in a tight final, closely followed by Hamilton, Menzies and Watson.
By the time Week 5 came around, the boys were absolutely chomping at the bit to get on the court to show us their fancy footwork. They didn’t disappoint! The boys competition was split into two – Junior and Senior grades. It was a fierce tournament with huge numbers both playing and watching. Chants rang from the gallery and the atmosphere was nothing short of electric. After two weeks of play, Thomson Juniors came out on top, followed by Menzies. In the Senior Boys final, Thomson and Watson were tied at the end of the match and it took a sudden death penatly shootout to finally seperate the teams. Congratulations again to Thomson for the win.
A special mention to our star referee Mr Russell who did a sterling job in controlling play. It was very much appreciated by all involved.
Finally once the student games were over, it was time for the game that everyone had been eagerly awaiting, the Staff vs Yr 13 game. The staff team came out of the blocks, all guns blazing. It was tense, it was fierce, it was full noise! The gallery was amped and the staff wanted redemption after a gut wrenching loss to the Yr 13s in Benchball in Term 1. The whistle blew and the game was on. Much to the horror of the Yr 13s, the staff brought their A game and took out a convincing win 7-0!
