He toa, he toa, he toa, he toa
Ko Hākena e
Ara – hii… aue… hii!
The opening lines of the Hemi Hakena Haka rang out across the school in Week 8, as we celebrated Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week).
For the first time ever, staff performed the Haka to the students to kick off the afternoon. The students cheered loudly as all of the teacher’s mahi on Thursdays before school, paid off. This was the start of a new tradition that is here to stay.
Then it was time for our ākonga to show us their House pride; and we were not disappointed. Ka mau te wehi Senior Campus students! You were all simply awesome.
The competition ended with a rousing full school haka before the results were announced.
Congratulations to Thomson for taking out the win in 2022.
A big thank you to our judge Jacinta Kerepeti, and the teachers and students for their mahi. What a competition it was.
