Each year, James Hargest College produces the Interrobang creative arts and writing magazine with work submitted from Hargest students. On Wednesday the 23rd of October, an audience of 61 came together to celebrate the 2024 edition of Interrobang. The most we have ever had!
The evening featured contributors talking about their work and the creative process. We were treated to stunning readings by the authors, such as Hailey Macpherson reading her incredibly moving writing ‘What Did I Know?’ and Irene Tendean reading an extract of her beautiful story ‘Lovesick Fool’.
Savindu Konthasingha Acharige and Jay Wright both described their creative process for their magnificent paintings. It was interesting to hear what inspires the community to create artwork. We were lucky to have the Interrobang designers, Carly Fraser and Harris Evans, talk about the final product.
It was a tremendous privilege to hear from guest speaker Poet Laureate Cilla McQueen, whose speech reminded us of the value of our art. She beautifully highlighted each magazine piece and shared her poem, ‘Winter’.
Congratulations to all contributors of the final magazine. The editors team would like to pass a thank you to Cilla McQueen, Carly and Harris, and all of the teachers involved. We would also like to thank Mr James for his long-running service to interrobang for the past 9 years. The end product is a fantastic taonga for all involved. We hope to see you again next year.
