Recently our ākonga had the opportunity to vote for the students to represent them on the Student Council. The purpose of the Student Council is to provide our learners with a voice regarding school activities, culture and events. The Student Council is split into two, with one being for Juniors and the other for Seniors. Each division of the Council serves different purpose, with an overarching goal to provide the greatest opportunity for students to feel involved, engaged and listened to at Hēmi Hākena. This year the students on the Council were nominated by their peers in Form Time, with those who expressed an interest being interviewed for the position. So far the Council has been busy establishing their roles and brainstorming new initiatives and ideas that they would like to see implemented at Hēmi Hākena. Congratulations to our Student Council members. You are doing great things!
