The entry fee for the Southland Secondary School Junior Adventure Race is $10 per individual

(This is a team event and you must be in a team of 4) 

The entry fee must be paid by the close off date for your child’s team to be entered.

ALL TEAM MEMBERS MUST FILL OUT A PERMISSION SLIP TO BE ABLE TO BE ENTERED INTO THIS EVENT

 Southland Secondary Schools Junior Adventure Race

Briefing/ roll call of registrations will be at 9.00 am. Race starts at 9.30am sharp.

To be able to compete you must be in a team of four. The race includes disciplines of MTB, trekking, kayaking and navigation.  Your child will need to have a reasonable fitness level.  This will approximately be a 5-hour adventure race, followed by a prize giving and a BBQ.

Competitors are required to wear their James Hargest sports uniform, provide their own mountain bike and helmet for the event, as well as enough food and water to fuel themselves during the race.

You will need to carry a backpack during the race and in your pack you should have the following:

• Waterproof jacket
• Thermal base layer top

• Food 
• Water (hydration pack are great on these days)
• Puncture Kit
• Team shared first aid kit and a mobile phone

Please do not go out and buy these items. You should be able to borrow most of these items if you don’t have them ( also please bring a change of clothes for during or after the race in case you get wet).

NAVIGATION PRACTICE MAP – A simple course that students can do in their own time to practice navigating using a topo map.

Registration will open st the start of term 1, 2025

Southland Secondary Schools Triathlon Championships 2025

This is a championship event not a “Have A Go Day” so participants should be competent in the disciplines they are competing in, especially swimming.

DATE: Friday 21 February, 2025

VENUE: Central Southland College, Grange Street, WINTON

COST: $5.00

TIMES : Briefing will be at 10.00am ( area to be advised) and the event will commence at 10.30am. Registration packs for schools will be picked up by the school managers.

Students that are competing at this event will need to be at Winton between 9.15 -10.00am to collect the race numbers and transponders from the School Managers.

Parents will be required to transport their own child and bike to and from the venue unless you have made arrangements with another parent.

COST: $5 per individual

AGE GROUPS :

• Year 7 Girls and Boys
• Year 8 Boys and Girls

Both age groups will be required to swim 150m, bike 7 km and run 2.5km. The sections will consist of individuals or teams (2 or 3 members). Teams can be all boys, girls or mixed).

Competitors are required to wear their James Hargest sports uniform, provide their own equipment for the event, as well as lunch and a drink for the day.

NB:  Please note registrations WILL NOT be accepted on the day, students must pre-register by their school.

Each school is to provide a volunteer to help the event organisers with marshaling etc.
