The Senior Campus reflects the schools commitment to ensuring the very best in facilities are provided to students and the New Technology Suite on the Junior Site parallels this by providing students there with state of the art facilities.

A range of artisic styles are explored through drawing, printmaking and painting. Students also use a variety of mediums including clay to create three dimensional art.

At James Hargest College students will be involved in making artwork through a range of practices across drawing, sculpture, design, painting, printmaking, photography and digital art.

Artists are sometimes studied to help understand techniques and styles of Art.

This subject provides students with a knowledge about making art works and understanding the purposes in which art works are made and valued. A strong career path exists for students looking to a career in Art, Digital Design or Photography.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Develop outcomes that reflect on Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique history. Combine techniques and processes to make artworks. Students will explore painting, photography, design, sculpture and printmaking.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

•  Use drawing to demonstrate understanding of conventions appropriate to design/painting/photography/printmaking/
  sculpture (4 credits internal)
• Systematically clarify ideas using drawing informed by established design/painting/photography/printmaking/sculpture practice (4 credits internal)
• Produce a systematic body of work that integrates conventions and regenerates ideas within design/painting/photography/sculpture practice (14 credits external)
